To 5K or Not To 5K???

I did 3.28 miles of jogging in one interval...for the first time since I was 20 years old. YEA!!!! I also did another 1/4 mile on top of that. I am typing this before even bathing because I'm so excited...really smelly, I'm sure, but excited!!! :) :) :)

So, question: I am thinking about signing up to jog in my first 5K this Saturday. The final day to sign up is tomorrow (I think). By pushing myself to do what I believe equals a 5K in miles tonight, I am more optimistic that I can do it....so maybe I should? I am worried though that I'll get so nervous that I might not be able to make it or that all my anxieties will make me lose some steam. Also, if I do peter out on the 5K, what will happen if I begin to walk? Has anyone done that or have experience in seeing that happen with a 5K (you can tell I'm completely green in that area!)? I don't guess they'll kick you out of the race or make a public spectacle out of you, but I would still like to know. Or do they? Yikes! Any comments or help would be great!

  2. Hahaha!!! Thanks for the MOTH clarification! You had me thinking for sure!

As far as the 5K, I'm so impulsive! I just wrote that post and then went to the page to sign up. I'm already nervous. I just know I'm going to be the slowest person there! Maybe there'll be an Age 100+ Category that I can jog alongside (or even a little behind). :)

  3. Okay...are you talking about the Bushwacker 5k? You and Mary are crazy for doing your first 5k in the dead of summer in Pcola, I did mine in early April and it was awesome. My boss and her husband do most of the local 5ks and they LOVE the bushwacker 5k (mostly for the party after). If you sign up as a runner, you can walk all you like. They dont care. You just cant sign up as a walker and RUN...then you will be disqualified! I think you should totally do it girl! You feel so amazing afterwards!

  4. That is so great -- go for it!! You can totally do it, and who cares if you walk a bit of it.

BTW, what kind of law do you practice? I didn't realize we had that in common too!

  6. Amy, that's the one. And, yes, I guess we're gluttons.

And Amy, Catherine, and Lacey, thanks for the support! :) I hope I remember your comments when I'm struggling to make it on Saturday. :)
